Our Pastor

Hello! My name is Samuel Schulz, and I have the undeserved privilege of serving God’s people at St. John’s as their pastor. That means that I lead worship, teach and lead Bible studies, provide spiritual leadership for our ministry, and equip our people to share the joy of the Gospel with others- along with whatever else I can do to be a blessing to God’s people.

I’m originally from Baraboo, WI, but moved to the Madison area when I was a teenager. I graduated from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, WI in 2015, Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 2019, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 2023. During my time at the Seminary, my wife Maddie and I got married, and a few years later, God blessed us with our daughter Dorothea (“Dot” for short).

There are many things I love about being a pastor. I love studying, teaching, and preaching God’s Word to his people and the spiritual growth that I get to see in myself and my people. As a pastor, I get to personally experience the power of Jesus’ forgiveness and then share it with my people in different ways. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do.

When I’m not working, I enjoy playing sports, reading, and going on dates with my wife. If you’d like me to pray for you, buy you a coffee, or know of any good restaurants, call or text any time!
