Worship

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:19-20)

The purpose of Christian worship is to celebrate and proclaim the life changing, life giving message of the Gospel- that Jesus has fully and freely forgiven our sins through his death on the cross. At St. John's, we see worship as a way to sing, hear, read, and enjoy the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Therefore, all our hymns, sermons, and prayers revolve around this message. At St. John's, we strive to be both reverent and joyful as we worship in God's house.

Along with the multitude of Christians that have gone before us, we have a deep love and respect for the art of worship music. We make use of the organ, piano, violin, flute, and several other instrumentalists- often college students!

We enjoy a rich variety of the treasury of worship music passed down to us throughout the past two thousand years. At St. John's you'll hear (hopefully sing!) hymns both ancient, modern, and everything in between! When it comes to our worship music, we prioritize biblical truth and accessibility of each hymn. We want everyone in the building to be able to praise God with their voice- something that delights our Savior!
